Coaching

Coaching is all about empowering educators by using their own knowledge and skills and applying those in different contexts. Over the past few years I've found coaching to be MUCH more impactful than training alone as it gives the leaders and practitioners the understanding of why (their rationale) of what they're doing.

From September 2024 I am now offering coaching in 3 different formats.

1. In-Person coaching is about inviting me into your school or setting to explore your provision and practice in depth. This is my most popular offering and has the most impact in the shortest period of time. We explore the issue, work on improvements together in the moment and I leave you feeling empowered for the journey ahead. You get a full report with ongoing support from me via Whatsapp.

In-person coaching can work for any practitioner or leader but it's important to note that for this to work fully you need to be available to work with me. So if you're usually in ratio you'll either need cover or to book me on a quieter day.

2. Zoom-based coaching sessions are 60 minute sessions where we explore any issue relating to provision or practice. You come ready with photos, videos or any information for me to better understand your issue and we get cracking with some solutions right away. Clients usually split these 60 minute sessions into 2 x 30 minutes. These work very well for childminders and leaders who are not able to meet before 6pm. These are available up to 9pm on weekdays.

3. Coaching club is my latest coaching offering. This is designed for leaders and senior practitioners who need ongoing support around areas of practice and provision over longer periods of time. You may be looking to develop your whole room over a few months - that's where I come in! You have access to me in a private chat as well as group chat where you can ask for help from fellow practitioners/leaders.

James came to do some coaching with us on environments recently and would highly recommend!
He was absolutely lovely, put everyone at ease and worked closely in the rooms with the teams rather than just being in the office with management.
James is so knowledgeable and gave really great, and achievable advice which has already made a big difference in our rooms. He did all this with no judgement but still be honest in his feedback. This is something we have struggled to find with other trainers etc we've used.
We can't wait to have him back.

James came into my setting at a time where I felt a lack of confidence in my ability to lead and educate my team.
My nursery had only been open for a year and I was very much still finding my feet as I’d never owned or ran a nursery/setting of this size before.

James spent the first visit observing my practitioners and looking at the setting and its resources.

His feedback at the end of the session was fair and constructive giving us plenty to build on.

I decided  to dedicate 6 months into really delving deep into my provision and how it ran in order to deliver the very best to our wonderful children every day.
I asked James to come in fortnightly to start with so we could gain momentum and make necessary changes.

James reignited my passion for loose parts and schema play and in time he really helped build my confidence again.

In a few short months he had helped us understand our setting and how best to make it run smoothly everyday by making everything easy, yet providing rich and deep invitations and provocations.

James has been a breath of fresh air for me, making me believe in myself and my abilities again.

He’s caring, kind but gets the job done.

Having access to James via WhatsApp was invaluable for our team, he was a part of us for a while and he is really invested.

Having someone I can talk to on a deep level about child development was amazing for me.

I can’t recommend James highly enough, his knowledge and expertise have helped me completely rewrite our curriculum and I now feel confident to showcase how amazing our nursery is when the time comes.
